Fall Festival..

Well the Fall Festival at the church was a huge success. Thanks to all who attended and for those that helped put on the Festival. There were many fun things for the kids to participate in. Some of the favorites appeared to be the petting zoo, the pony rides and the bounce house.

This weekend the Baptist Men are hosting their annual BBQ. Please swing by and check it out, the BBQ is great and the proceeds will go towards local mission projects. The last few years the church has taken a group of people to Mississippi to work in the areas still greatly damaged by Katrina. It is amazing to think how bad some areas down there still are, and that happened so long ago now. I hope to see you at the BBQ on Saturday. By the way the Church is located near the corner of Hwy 51 (Matthews-Mint Hill Rd.) and Hwy 218 (Wilgrove-Mint Hill Rd. or Fairview Rd.) you can't miss us, right next to the CVS on the corner.

I just wanted to let everyone know that our Church will be holding it's 1st Annual Fall Festival. Here is a flyer that gives a general idea of what is going on at the church. We are located right next to the CVS at the corner of HWY 51 (Matthews -Mint Hill Rd. and Wilgrove - Mint Hill Rd.) We can be easily accessed off of Interstate 485 - Take exit 44 and follow the signs toward Mint Hill, once at the light at the corner of 51 (BP , CVS, Shell, Bank of America) hang a left and we are right next to the CVS.

We hope to see you there, should be a great time.

Garbage..

The Panthers were absolute Garbage this weekend, and here is a quote from one of my favorite defensive players on the team. He sums up all the fans feelings perfectly I believe. He also goes on to talk about how we are showing NO HEART, NO PRIDE. Get em Kris.

Kris Jenkins says "You all ready (clears throat)? All right, I’m going to be honest. I think the players owe the fans an apology. I would be as upset as they are if I had to sit in the stands for four hours and look at that garbage. I’m going to be honest with you. That’s what it was, garbage. "

If you want to read the entire quote - http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2007/09/jenkins-blasts-.html

Here is another interesting article on the Charlotte Observer about every play in the game, and what Julius Peppers did (or didn't do I should say.) I just hope he gets over whatever is making look very ordinary.

http://www.charlotte.com/sports/story/300571.html

At the very end of the game (yes we were still there of course) there was a kid screaming his head off (not sure exactly what he was saying, but it was funny) I just wish the Panthers could of heard him, because this kid was pouring his heart out.

PS. Panthers he had way more heart then you did

Mint Hill Madness..

The town of Mint Hill had it's annual parade and celebration in the park this weekend. My son and wife were in the parade, as JD attends our churches Play School as you can see in the banner. They are the one's waving, he had a blast participating in the parade. We were not able to attend the carnival rides this year, but it looked like everyone had a blast, and every year this event just gets bigger and bigger. If you are in the area you should check it out next year.

Happy Birthday April..

My beautiful wife will also be celebrating her birthday this Sunday. I don't think there is anything she would rather do on her birthday then attend a football game.

Am I a lucky guy or what?

Love You Baby.

Panthers..

My Panthers have a huge game this weekend. Even though they looked pretty sad on D last week they were able to pull out a win in Hot-lanta (they are just plain horrible.) This weeks game is against our most heated rival the past few years, the Tampa Bay Bucs (Pe-pa's old team.) Of course he never got to see them other then in their beautiful light orange jerseys (yuk.) The games between us and the Bucs are always good and this one has huge divisional ramifications. Not to mention it appears we will getting the White Glove treatment this week from our QB. David Carr is expected to start, and can you believe this guy wears gloves on both hands, and it is only like 90 degrees out. I wish him the best for this week, but Jake is my guy (and Fox's as far as we can tell.) However some fans have been waiting for this day to come, and they wanted Weinke last year as well, we all know how that turned out.

Go Panthers..

Daddy's girl at 1 month

Here is Sydney at 1 month. April wanted to dress her up in one of the many dresses that we have received as a gift. This one I think came out great, she is growing like a weed as all little ones of this size tend to do. John David is crazy about her, and wants to help out in any way that he can. He is always the first to tell us, when she is ready for her next bottle.

Bad day and Good day...

First the bad, I attended App State and they lost for the first time in what feels like forever to Wofford. The beautiful thing is they play in the FCS (Football Championship Something Division) which mostly mean they will decided the winner on the field by playing in a playoff format, and not by whoever some writer in his basement thinks is the best team.

Bad 2 - My Terps blew a 24-3 lead to Wake Forest, the sad part is, they were actually going in for a score to go up 31-3, but the ball was picked in the endzone and returned 100 yards.. NUTS
Then they just blew it and lost in Overtime, oh it feels like decades ago when the Terps won 10 games or more 3 years in a row.

Now the Good - Golf. I rarely play these days, but was able to get out yesterday to play in the Year End Tournament sponsored by my work. I played really well, I made 3 birdies and actually made a par 5 in 2 and had about a 7 foot eagle putt - doh, just left it on the high side a bit. Then on the next hole, my shot of the day - Pulled a drive left down into some trash by a creek, had to drop and had about 135 with the ball above my feet, had to really choke down on a 7-iron, but hit it high and soft, and 1 hop and in the hole for another Birdie - woo - hoo. 79 for me with a bogey, bogey finish.

I also took home some loot and the awards ceremony, I nice cart bag and a few dozen balls.

I would like to Thank my lovely wife for the opportunity to get and play, it was a beatiful day and she had to handle our 2 kids all alone for most of the day. I love you baby.

Going Organic..

We are trying to change our lawn program to all organic (Dad is trying this as well.) I have been reading some things online, and it appears to be a really good thing, both for the earth and for the family (very safe, and no chemicals.) Basically you make your soil very healthy which in turn will make your grass really healthy. I may have a long way to go as the ground in my backyard looks horrible under the very old trees, looks like crushed rock very powdery and hard. Wish me luck.

Happy Birthday Dad..

My first post..

Some things about me. I live in Mint Hill, NC a sububurb of Charlotte, NC the largest city in North Carolina. I went to high school and college here in NC, attended South Mecklenburg high and Appalachian State (Yeah, the one that just beat Michigan in Football, Go APP!!) I am married to my beautiful wife April, and we have two wonderful children John David (3) and Sydney (5 weeks.)

Some of my interests included playing golf and spending time with the family. I am a huge sports fan, some of my favorite teams include any sport the Maryland Terrapins play, I grew up in that area and my father attended the University of Maryland. As for the pro sports we are avid Carolina Panther fans, as we have PSL's and never miss a game, either at the stadium or on TV. The Charlotte Bobcats are okay, but don't really care for NBA basketball, and I also love the Yankees as my Dad was a big fan of them as I was growing up.

That is all I have for now, I will be updating this as much as I can, I hope to at least add a few lines a day out here if I find the time.
